Installation Process
How to install and connect the connector (EA / AddOn) that links your broker with TradingNote, step by step.
Some platforms need a small «connector» installed in your terminal so TradingNote can see your trades and, if you want, execute orders. MetaTrader uses an Expert Advisor (EA) and NinjaTrader 8 uses an AddOn. Pick your platform in the tabs below to see its step-by-step guide. If an account isn't syncing, this is the first place to come.
Using cTrader, TopstepX, TradeLocker, DXtrade, Tradovate, Dukascopy or Paper Trading? Nothing to install: you connect via OAuth or credentials from Accounts → «New Account».
MetaTrader connects with an Expert Advisor (EA): a small program you install in your terminal that keeps your account synced with TradingNote. Watch the video and follow the steps.

Download the TradingNote EA
From the Accounts section, when connecting a MetaTrader account, download the Expert Advisor file (.ex5 for MT5, .ex4 for MT4).

Copy the EA to the Experts folder
In MetaTrader open «File → Open Data Folder», go to MQL5/Experts/ (or MQL4/Experts/ on MT4) and paste the EA file there. Then press F5 to refresh the Expert Advisors list.

Enable web connections (WebRequest)
Go to «Tools → Options → Expert Advisors», check «Allow WebRequest for listed URL» and add https://tradingnote.co. Click OK. Without this step the EA can't talk to TradingNote.

Drag the EA onto a chart
Open any chart, drag the «TradingNote» EA from the Navigator onto the chart, and confirm. When you see the smiley face in the corner, the EA is active and will start syncing your account.
Keep MetaTrader open. The EA only syncs while the terminal is running. If you close it, the account stops updating until you reopen it.
NinjaTrader 8 connects with an AddOn: a plugin you import into the platform. Follow these steps to install it and link your account.

Download the AddOn installer
When connecting a NinjaTrader account from Accounts, download the TradingNote AddOn package (a .zip with the installer).

Import the AddOn into NinjaTrader
Open NinjaTrader 8 and go to «Tools → Import → NinjaScript Add-On…», select the downloaded .zip and confirm. NinjaTrader installs the AddOn automatically.

Restart NinjaTrader
Close and reopen NinjaTrader 8 so the AddOn is loaded.

Connect your TradingNote account
A TradingNote panel will appear in the NinjaTrader menu. Log in with your account and select the NinjaTrader account you want to link. From then on your trades will sync.
The AddOn needs NinjaTrader 8 open and connected to sync and, if you use copy trading, to execute. Keep it running during your trading.
Account still not showing or syncing? Check the connector is active (EA with smiley face / AddOn loaded), the terminal is open, and the credentials are correct. If it persists, reach us via Support.
